What to take to your singing lessons

Starting singing lessons can be an exciting adventure, and being being effectively prepared will help make sure they are super efficient (and get you value-for-money!)

Being well prepared is also a great habit to get into for your singing career ( - there’s always so much to prepare as a musician!)

So, here’s a quick list to make sure you’ve got what you need:

1. Something to take notes

This could be either a paper journal (and don’t forget your pen!) or a device for recording voice notes or video.

You should use this for practice sessions in between lessons too, so you can remember what you were working on and any questions you have for your teacher.

2. Your ideas for the lesson

Your teacher will likely shape you lesson to your individual needs and desires, so you should be able to clearly communicate your vocal goals and any challenges you have.

You might also have specific plans for what you want to cover, in which case you might want additional resources too: backing tracks or sheet music for songs you’re working on, a small speaker (and connecting cables) if required, any exercises/homework you’ve been working on, or warming-up tools (like an ebook or straw).

And that’s it! (Although a bottle of water would probably be wise too, to keep yourself hydrated!)
